What Is Caribbean Sea Moss? Benefits, Uses & Why It’s Not Irish Moss

Caribbean Sea Moss: What It Is & Why It’s So Good for You

Sea moss is having a moment—and for good reason. But not all sea moss is the same.

Let’s clear up the confusion.

The sea moss we sell at SEVA is not Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus), which grows in cold North Atlantic waters. Our sea moss is wildcrafted from the warm Caribbean Sea, typically from species like Eucheuma cottonii and Kappaphycus alvarezii. These tropical red algae are sun-dried, ocean-harvested, and packed with natural minerals your body craves.

What Makes Caribbean Sea Moss Special?

This red algae has been used for generations in Caribbean cultures to support whole-body wellness. Naturally rich in iodine, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and over 92 essential minerals, it’s a versatile and powerful supplement to nourish your body from the inside out.

We offer 3 varieties:

  • Gold Sea Moss

  • Purple Sea Moss

  • Full Spectrum (mixed)

Some sea moss websites will try to tell you gold sea moss is better and therefore more expensive. This is false. The sea moss that is dried in the sun will turn gold and the sea moss thats dried in the shade will maintain some color. Same sea moss different color because of the suns natural bleaching action.

They’re not better or worse than each other—just energetically different. Same minerals, different vibes.
